From school mobility solutions and citizen science tools, over adult cycling classes and traffic safety campaigns, to parking policy audits and capacity building networks: each initiative tackles real-world challenges with practical, people-centred solutions.
Overview of initiatives
Aya at School
Aya is a wacky space creature that helps preschoolers better understand our traffic. Schools participate in the campaign free of charge and receive teaching sheets and campaign materials.
The Cycling School
Cycling is super flexible. Yet there are a lot of people who have never learned to ride a bike. This limits their freedom of movement. The Cycling School changes this.
Traffic Education Route (VERO)
Thanks to a traffic education route, or VERO, children learn how to move safely and confidently in traffic.
School Route Map
A school route map is a map of the wider school area showing all safe cycling and walking routes to school. This way, pupils always choose the best route to school.
Naar Jobs
Smart to get to work? Naar Jobs helps jobseekers find easily accessible jobs. This platform literally puts vacancies throughout Flanders on the map and shows the smartest ways to get there.
Telraam
Telraam is an automatic sensor that allows citizens to count traffic in their street. The tool enables citizens to objectively map local traffic flows and to support policymakers in improving mobility policies.
Shared Cycling Fun
Enabling people with limited mobility to experience the joy and wonder of cycling. That's what Shared Cycling Fun is all about.
Developed in Belgium, designed to travel
Our initiatives have been developed and rolled out across Belgium, in close collaboration with citizens, schools, local authorities and other partners. While rooted in the Belgian context, their approach, methods and instruments are adaptable to different policy settings and are ready to inspire or support similar efforts elsewhere in Europe.
