What we do
At Mobiel 21, we inform, inspire and empower people to take action for more sustainable mobility. Our actions and activities span a wide spectrum, from local initiatives to international collaborations.
Together with citizens, companies and policymakers, we aim for behavioural change and seek to accelerate the mental and modal shift. As an independent research centre, we also develop and share knowledge to strengthen mobility policy at the local, regional, national and European level.
What we can do for you
We offer expert support in sustainable mobility, including project coordination, policy advice, network facilitation, practice transfer, citizen engagement, and educational materials. Our services support innovation, inclusion and lasting impact.
Focus themes
To increase our impact in key areas of sustainable mobility, we focus our actions and activities around four main themes. These focus themes include mobility poverty, human-centered streets, school mobility, and citizen participation.
Our initiatives
Within each focus theme, we develop and implement tailored initiatives, tools and campaigns to put our vision for sustainable mobility into practice. These initiatives range from school mobility solutions and citizen science tools, over adult cycling classes and traffic safety campaigns, to parking policy audits and capacity building networks.
Each initiative raises awareness, encourages behavioural change or supports more sustainable mobility policies. Developed in Belgium, designed to travel.
Our European projects
Mobiel 21 engages in European innovation and research projects, contributing our expertise in sustainable mobility to broader international efforts. By participating in initiatives like CIVITAS, we actively develop and share solutions across borders. In turn, this engagement allows us to bring European best practices to Belgian city halls and town squares.
