School Route Map

Safe to school

A school route map shows the best and safest routes to cycle and walk to school. The map is always available online, and sometimes printed, so pupils can easily choose the best route to school and bypass bottlenecks. Mobiel 21 developed a user-friendly method with an interactive, online map.

What is a school route map?

A school route map is a map of the wider school area. It shows the safest routes for cycling and walking to school. Using clear tips and pictures, pupils, parents and supervisors can see how to walk or cycle safely in dangerous places.

It is also a useful tool to inform pupils and their parents about safe school routes. In this way, a school route map convinces people to cycle and walk more often.

For whom?

The school route map is mainly intended for pupils in primary education and the first grade of secondary education. In the classroom, the map also serves as a framework for working on safe traffic and sustainable mobility.

TIP!

Check zeker bij je gemeente of provincie om te horen of jouw school recht heeft op een subsidie voor een schoolroutekaart.

A school route map for your school

Often a municipality or city takes the initiative to commission a school route map. Does your school or municipalities not yet have a school route map? Then be sure to get in touch.

Mobiel 21 works out a tailor-made participation process so that all parties involved, from management, teachers and pupils, to (grand)parents, municipality and local police can give their input. To do so, we use a handy digital map on which everyone can indicate safe routes and bottlenecks. This way, we arrive at a map that shows everyone the best routes to school.
