Mobility for everyone

When it comes to liveable streets and neighbourhoods, tactical urbanism is a great movement to bring more humanity to our mobility and public spaces. To bring some momentum to the things that matter.

Space for ...

'Tactical Urbanism' stands for temporary experiments in public space to test out new things. The emphasis is thus on short but eye-catching actions and neighbourhood-building incentives that are cheap and expandable. The aim is to introduce people to potential improvements in order to bring about long-term change. Tactical urbanism advocates more:

  • space for living together and meeting
  • space for peace and nature
  • space for play and creativity
  • space for sustainable mobility

I often see that the people in City Hall are actually your supporters. But they have a playbook and a lot of rules to follow even though they no longer make sense. It is the role of residents to try to change that.

Win win win in all directions

As a resident, it is important to be able to make your voice heard, take action and let people dream along about a liveable city. As a policymaker, it is important to look, feel and hear what is going on in your municipality. What are the needs, wishes and dreams? Who are the activists? And how can you enthuse residents to take the initiative themselves? This requires both citizens and local governments to look and think differently.

Mobiel 21 likes to think along to make participation succeed in all possible directions. Go for sustainable solutions and a liveable city or municipality on a human scale. Dare to think outside the box and feel free to share your ideas, questions and plans with us. Then together we will see how we can give them a boost.
