The growth of e-commerce increases traffic pressure in cities and towns. How can local governments strike a balance between economy and liveability? Join our webinar and discover practical examples and policy lessons from European projects.

Urban logistics: From European projects to local solutions

The growth in e-commerce puts pressure on cities and municipalities, with more and more deliveries, delivery vehicles and thus traffic congestion in residential areas. To relieve this pressure, municipalities are balancing between economic interests and liveability. They are experimenting with solutions such as route planners, loading and unloading zones, logistics hubs, window times and sustainable delivery methods such as cargo bikes. This is often done as part of European projects. But how do you translate these projects into policy and practice? What happens after the end of such a project? What lessons can be learned from ongoing projects and how can your city or municipality use them?

In a webinar on Tuesday 20 May (10-12h), Mobiel 21 and CIVINET .BE will delve deeper into these questions and offer concrete insights and practical examples relevant to local governments. The focus is on how cities and towns, even with limited resources, can respond to new urban logistics developments. So be sure to participate!

Participation in the webinar is free of charge. Vehicle language is English.

Here's what we have in store for you

During the webinar, Bond Beter Leefmilieu outlines what is moving in Belgium when it comes to urban logistics. Cities like Leuven, Mechelen, Ghent and Antwerp talk about the European projects and local initiatives they are rolling out to tackle logistics challenges. Naturally, there will also be room for questions and exchange.

Via the registration link, you can also submit your own topics that you would like to see covered. See you in the webinar!

Other CIVINET activities in 2025

Besides this webinar, CIVINET .BE is planning other activities this year, based on the input we received from cities and municipalities. These include another workshop on inclusive mobility in June and a site visit to Sint-Niklaas on parking management and UVAR in September. You can already register for those events now. Do so today, as places are limited.

What is CIVINET .BE?
