Traffic Education Route (VERO)
A VERO in your school environment gives children, from toddlers to teenagers, the chance to learn to move safely in traffic. And that outside the school walls, under the guidance of teachers and parents.
What is a traffic education route?
A traffic education route, or VERO, is a route in the school environment with traffic exercises for pedestrians and cyclists. The route passes different points of interest in the vicinity of the school.
The aim is to teach children traffic skills by letting them practice first in a protected environment (playground, gymnasium), and then also outside the school walls. This gives them everything they need to participate in traffic step by step, independently and confidently.

A turnkey solution
In consultation with the school, Mobiel 21 defines the route. To do so, we make a ready-made guidebook with a map and directions. A VERO is tailor-made for pupils from the last nursery class to the first grade of secondary education. For each different traffic situation, there is a separate lesson sheet with information and exercises. For each traffic situation, the children follow a part of the route. In doing so, they actively participate in traffic. So they learn, among other things
- apply the traffic regulations
- passing obstacles and crossing safely
- anticipating dangerous traffic situations
In addition, the printed road map is also a handy tool for pupils to practice with their parents after school. A digital version of the map ends up on the website of the municipality and the school. Usually, the municipality commissions a VERO. But always the school or schools are at the drawing board for the final route. Mobiel 21 has already produced VEROs for dozens of schools and municipalities.
