The Cycling School blows out 10 candles
Today, De Fietsschool provides low-threshold cycling lessons for adults in dozens of Flemish municipalities. But 10 years ago it all started very small. On this anniversary, we take you back in time through five special moments.

Once upon a time, there was an adult who couldn't cycle properly, a volunteer and a deserted courtyard in Redingenstraat in Leuven....
That's how the story of The Cycling School began in 2012. Literally with trial and error. Because that's just part of it.
31 May 2018
The Bicycle School wins the Ashoka Award. This allows the Bicycle School to participate in a 10-day Leadership Programme in the United States, organised by the US Embassy.
During that programme, it was coached on topics such as impact measurement, alternative funding, communication, and so on. A real boost.
20 June 2020
De Fietsschool will be the platform and reference for cycling schools in Belgium. Various aspects are housed under the umbrella of De Fietsschool, from cycling skills to bicycle ownership. All this information is now collected on www.defietsschool.be.

The Cycling School and Decathlon are joining hands to teach even more adults how to cycle. Decathlon's large car parks provide the ideal training location.

The Cycling School is joining the #BikeFree campaign. This helps local governments, in the context of the war in Ukraine, to set up their own cycling initiatives and direct refugees to cycling lessons.
